I started reading Stephen King's "Carrie". This is a exceptionally great book so far, filled with very many gruesome details but interesting situations that I've never read before. Carrie is about a girl, subjected to a life of hash godliness be her mother, talked about and teased at school, and has one very special gift.
This gift is telekinesis. Carrie can move things and do things without lifting a finger. But her mother has convinced her it's the devils gift, along with various other things, some natural and not devilish at all.
At sixteen, Carrie has her first period, an awkwardly late experience she knew nothing about. After being humiliated by starting this cycle in the girls shower room at school, her power grows more intense.
This author for me was trying to tell me that he definitely wanted to grab my attention and he did. He wanted me to know that Carrie had a psycho mother and kind of warned me in the beginning. I think he had to know in order to write this book is how to grab a person's attention and how to use detail words to become interesting rather than boring. I think he also needed to know what real-life situations can be a way to have the reader become more interested in the book. I would definitely read any other books by Stephen King because he has this way of using his words to keep the reader interested.
